Inside the 1,000-point NetScore

Why we weight satisfaction at 35%, and why vote volume alone never moves a score.

NetScore combines four things customers told us matter most: overall satisfaction (35%), customer support (25%), affordability and value (25%), and reliability (15%).

Each customer rates their provider from 1 to 10 on each dimension. We convert ratings to a 0–1,000 scale, give recent votes more weight, and blend small samples toward a neutral mid-point so that a handful of votes can’t produce an extreme score.

Crucially, more votes do not mean a higher score. Vote volume affects only our confidence level. And affiliate commissions are never an input — the calculation code cannot even see them.
